Dear Happy Camp Students/Parents/caregivers and Indians Fans;
CIF Championship Semifinal HCHS vs Westwood Boys Varsity Basketball will be played Tuesday, February 24th, at 5:30pm at Happy Camp. Hope to see you all there! Over and over you have heard from me, "Cheer for our team; not against the other team." Insulting, taunting, berating, or other unsportsmanlike conduct by players or fans will result in removal from the premises and barred from attending the CIF Northern Section Championship game to be played at Butte College. Please note, I do not consider phrases such as "Airball" or Scoreboard" or related chants as cheering for our team. On the contrary. I consider them taunts and unsportsmanlike conduct and will be treated as such. Furthermore, no "outside" noise, including but not limited to, "cowbells" and "horns" will not be tolerated per CIF regulations, despite "other team's" failure to enforce at their home games. We are Happy Camp. On the other hand, stomping and "Indians" chants is perfectly acceptable and encouraged because those are examples of cheering for our team. We can also cheer for the other team. Westwood has always treated our teams with the utmost respect and have come out in our support, especially during 8-Man football, when their players sat with us in our stands. Let us return the favor by demonstrating that the Indians win with dignity, class and pride! All of the athletes on the court (and stands) have demonstrated sacrifice, hard work and dedication throughout the season and are living out their dreams and ours. Leave the past hateful rivalries and bad memories in the past or the privacy of your home. Instead, let's encourage our student athletes and their proud families to keep making strides in leaps, bounds, dribbles and teamwork towards a good life; filled with good memories, as I know you can recollect for yourself, family and your friends. May God give us victory!!!
